Caspian Learning; Game Based Learning 2009
Graeme Duncan (CEO, Caspian Learning) discussing the explosion of the 3D web and the opportunities for developing games across social network platforms such as Facebook.
I’ve been in discussion with Caspian Learning about their soon-to-be-released version of Caspian Authoring Tool education licence; the idea being that we, the educators, can build our own fully-functioning ‘game’ – it’s all talked about by Graeme at 21:25 onwards (and at 22:09 he says they’re launching at a very low price!)
It is also interesting to hear Graeme talk of Web 3.0 … it’s here (apparently)!!
Thinking Worlds really is an excellent tool. We’ve been using it since release and produced some really good work, like all software there are things that can be improved and the TW team have just released an update. Think about getting a game designer involved in the process! We’ve had games designers working with the tool and had some very interesting results.
Scott.
Thanks for this. I do agree that it is an excellent resource, and well worth the price asked (for the education licence). I received the email recently outlining the changes and additions to the latest release, and would love to get my hands on it and get the games created. Currently BU are in discussion with Caspian on modifications to the licence agreement; something is not acceptable to the Institution and we have asked for changes to be made. Wish I knew more than that as I am rapidly running out of time to get the games developed for deployment in October.
All the best, David.
