Call to action – Games in education? Anyone?
I’m looking for resources, research, papers, links, etc on games in education (all levels of education, not just eLearning or Higher Education). Any kind of game will do 3D, Second Life (and why), arcade, role-play, classroom, online, etc.
If you have, or know of any, please post a comment below (you don’t need to register, just type away).
If you know of any games in education that are used for assessment, they’d also be welcome.
… and thank you, in advance!! You’re wonderful.
PS. If you have something you’d like to share with me, but rather I’d not share it around (just yet) then pelase contact me privately and we can discuss offline.
PPS. I will collate results here and on Twitter replies ina future blog post … don’t worry, I will share (unless you don’t want me to!).
I really found Karl Kapp’s Gadget, Games, and Gizmos to be a great read, if you’re looking for a book.
The company I work for provides some free whitepapers on games in training/education at this site: http://enspire.com/about/demonstrations.
The three papers are “Serious Gains From Serious Games,” “Using Alternate Reality Games (ARGs) to Teach Data Security,” and “German is Just a Game.”
Upside Learning has this list of game resources – http://www.upsidelearning.com
I would also take a look at Clark Aldrich – clarkaldrich.blogspot.com/
Also here is an interview o0f James Paul Gee – http://www.pbs.org/
My company, LearningWare, Inc., sells template game software that allows you to customize popular game show formats (like Jeopardy or Family Feud) with your own material. We also produce a product called AllPlay Web which lets trainers and educators create gaming experiences in webinars.
