Unsubscribe
“You have successfully unsubscribed. It can take 48 hours for our system to reflect your changes.”
Why? It’s not a manual process. It’s not like someone needs to authorise the request, nor is it likely I’ll change my mind.
I’ve seen some newsletters state it can take up to 30 days/1 month to complete the unsubscription request.
Why?
The cynic in me thinks it’s just so there’s an excuse to keep sending me the content I’ve already decided I don’t want/need, somehow thinking I’ll either change my mind or see something I’ll share. But, here’s the thing … I decided I didn’t want your newsletter, probably 4-6 months ago, I just couldn’t be bothered to hit the ‘unsubscribe’ button. And I’m really fed up with your newsletters, fed up enough to finally unsubscribe. So, by delaying the request and sending me more stuff I don’t want, it’s just plain annoying now. And that makes for a disgruntled (ex)subscriber, rather than just an uninterested one.
And that’s when I start blogging about it, and possibly you, in the future.
